How to Contour for a Bronzed Goddess Makeup Look

There is often debate over the difference between bronzers and contour makeup. Makeup artists often debate what the main differences are, calling out when users misuse the two products. This leaves us with the question, what is the difference? And how much does it really matter?
Traditionally contour has cooler undertones and no shimmer to help mimic the natural shadows on the face. You place shadows on the areas of the face that you would like to appear less prominent and to make this more obvious add lighter shades to the areas you want to emphasis such as the natural high-points of your face like cheekbones, chin and the tip of your nose.
The Best Way to Contour The Face With Makeup
Here is one example of how a jane iredale makeup artist would create a bronzed goddess makeup look. Implement the steps below, following your skincare and mineral makeup base routine, to enhance your inner goddess:
1. Use your shade of jane iredale Glow Time Bronzer Stick (shade pictured is ‘Scorch’) to map out any areas you would like to chisel. Pick from this list (pictured below) the ones your heart desires: forehead, chin, cheeks, nose, lips and jawline. Switch it up by alternating which features you choose to contour depending on how you feel and the vibe you’re going for.
Leave under the cheekbones if you have a naturally round face like Selena Gomez or Kirsten Dunst to enhance this feature. But no matter what face shape you have if you want the appearance of fuller cheeks don’t contour under the cheekbones to highlight this feature.
2. Spritz your face with a jane iredale Hydration Spray of your choice and then blend with a Blending/Contouring Brush or damp Flocked Sponge. This not only keeps your base smooth but rejuvenates your mind and space with a fresh scent.
3. Define your eyes using your jane iredale PureBronze Matte Bronzer shade underneath your eye in the lashline and then blend into the crease. Accentuate out into your temple for a more elongated eye.
For extra glam use the jane iredale PureBronze Shimmer Bronzer for this step!
4. Using the jane iredale Blending/Contour Brush add PureBronze Matte Bronzer to all the places you want to look more bronzed, accentuate the contour from earlier and/or apply as though the sun has kissed you just the right amount. Forehead, chin, cheeks, nose, lips and jawline are just a few places but really anywhere on the face works well when you start with a light hand.
5. Nothing screams Goddess like naturally flushed cheeks. jane iredale Glow Time Blush Stick Ember works cohesively with the PureBronze and adds that pinched cheek glow. Alternatively you can use Glow Time Blush Stick Fervor as the perfect cool-tone colour that will pop amidst the warm bronze tones. Choose the one that suits your mood.
6. Use those lighter hues in the PureBronze as your finishing touch to give that golden hour glow. Add to all the high points of your face or anywhere you would like to accentuate more, such as the collarbones. Then finish with mascara, brows and lips. jane iredale HydroPure Hyaluronic Lip Gloss in Pink Glace is pictured below.
There are no rules when it comes to bronzing and contouring so long as you are true to yourself and the kind of features you would like to enhance. Trends are forever changing so do what feels right, if you want more chiseled features go for it but if you want to soften them do that too! A true goddess doesn’t follow the ‘rules’. The above steps are simply a starting point for discovering which rules you want to follow and break for the perfect jane iredale bronzed look.
